Japanese Association for Oral Infectious Diseases
The Japanese Association for Oral Infectious Diseases was established in 1991 with the goal of constructing an arena in which frontline private dental practitioners, hospital dental department professionals, and university employees including clinical professionals and foundation area professionals could gather together and hold discussions on oral infectious diseases and hospital infection measures. Our activities include holding 1 annual academic research presentation and 1 annual seminar, issuing a Japanese language journal entitled "Nihon Koku Kansensho Gakkai Zasshi" (the Japanese Journal of Oral Infectious Diseases) twice annually, and issuing a newsletter twice annually.
In 2005 we joined the Japanese College of Infection Control Doctors. Furthermore, in 2007 we were certified as an accredited subcommittee of the Japanese Association for Dental Science. Also, from 2006 onward, we have been implementing a hospital infection prevention measure accreditation system to improve and progress overall awareness of dentists and dental hygienists regarding infection prevention in the dental healthcare domain at large, and with the goal of engendering ongoing research and information acquisition.
As of January 1, 2018, our member count is 643 members (618Regular members, 22 Honorary Members, and 3 Patron Member Companies). The number of hospital infection prevention measure accreditation system accredited physicians is 60 physicians, and the number of accredited dental hygienist is 9 hygienists (as of January 1, 2018).
