Japanese Academy of Maxillofacial prosthetics

The Japanese Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics is an academic society that aims to restore functionality and form for deficits in the oral and maxillofacial domain that were lost through factors such as benign and malignant tumors, congenital disorders (such as cleft lip palate), and trauma, and facilitate pleasant social lifestyles for patients. Our first research group meeting was held in 1976, and from 1984 onward we have engaged in activities as an academic society with strong interdisciplinary specialization in the dental sciences.

Because the maxillofacial domain is complex and a high level of functionality and aesthetics are demanded, successfully recovering the function and shape of the deficient area in a way that meets patient satisfaction is not an easy thing. However, Japanese Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics researchers in a wide array of fields such as oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, dental technician fields, dental hygiene, food intake swallowing, language, and psychology work hard daily to actualize the advancement and development of maxillofacial prosthetics treatment in mutual linkage to transcend the barriers of specialist domains. They give a heartfelt response to the hopes of their patients and to educate society at large while contributing to patient treatment.
